Why does valve giveaway dota 2
You know that the Wall of Shame is not a contest and having more threads on it won't get you any prize, right? Because valve hands out invites every week now. I have an idea, a stupid one. I think it would be nice to have the possibility to make giveaway for games like dota where 0 points are needed to enter the giveaway and that doesn't give contribution value. With this, threads like this and the ones where people ask for who want a free copy can disappear What do you think?
Because there are also people that think it's good to regift something and most people wouldn't even know that Dota would give no contribution value. And that people win multiple times and keep all those copies is a fact. I think the problem is, that Dota will only show up in the list of games you own aka your Steam library when you have installed and played it.
BUT if you have only the spectator client and installed and "played" , it will also show up as Dota. If Valve cared, they would have made 4 library entries Dota test, Dota spectator, Dota beta, Dota full. If you want to give away copies of Dota 2 just make a forum thread and give them to people who don't have Dota 2.
I think there are still about 4 people on the planet outside of China who don't have Dota 2 yet. There's a place for your Dota2. Welcome to the wall of shame because its way more easy to get ashamed than using the search function. Comment has been collapsed. Why do you think? Dota 2 is a beautiful game because it so easily facilitates friendly interaction and team work. No more having two people play and two others observe, all four individuals can play at once, all helping each other and being able to really rely on their allies thanks to real trust between them.
Every competetive game is only as good as the community which plays it. For me, I'm locked out of part of my community for being unable to play this game. I've only played the game once ever. I was aware of the basic mechanics of the game from talking with my friends, but had never had the opportunity to actually get a feel for them.
I randomed as the spider hero and started killing stuff. I tried to work around my teammates so as to not get in their way. At first there thus was practically no teamwork going on. I literally didn't know how to work with my teammates. About halfway through as I was aimlessly killing stuff and figuring out how to use the hero someone on the team started giving instructions.
Having actually obtained a plan to play by the entire game suddenly became more clear. All of my teammates fell together like pieces of a puzzle. With the puzzle together the game changed from playing aimlessly around my teammates to actually working with them. With that puzzle completed I could see the over-arching theme and picture which had been hidden the entire time.
And that picture was beautiful. Recently my friend got access to Dota 2 and streams for me, of course watching him play it makes me want it even more. In fact, Heroes of Newerth started off exclusively with heroes and items imported from Dota Allstars, and the map was based on Dota Allstars' map as well.
However, development of Dota 2 was started by Valve, and heroes were no longer imported. Instead, Heroes of Newerth began releasing new heroes. I believe that Heroes of Newerth is an inferior Esport to Dota 2 due to the conflict of interest between Heroes of Newerth's method of generating money releasing heroes that are initially only playable if paid for, often overpowered before being nerfed later and balance issues.
I did not fully realize how different the game was from the Dota Allstars I loved until I witnessed the International. Dota 2 has an excitement to it that has somehow been lost in Heroes of Newerth. Valve has consistently made effective balance changes to Dota 2 and has the financial prowess and experience to make Dota 2 a successful Esport.
I would like to be part of that community. When your team is down 10 kills, 1 rax, 15k in experience, and the enemy's juggernaut is , you land that Ancient Apparition ultimate on him after he has picked up an invisibility rune that allows your team come back and win the game.
Dota is the game that will make you forget all your problems When your life is in ruins and everything goes from bad to worse, when everyone is depressed around you and you feel helpless, you can always count on a good game along with some friends. Gaming is all that is left for many people these days and while this is sad, it is also great because it legitimises that hobby. And when the game involves 10 people and a lot of passion, you can count on spending hundreds of hours per week after work gaming and having fun.
Isn't that a noble thing? Dota is fun. It's challenging and pushes you to work with teammates.
